Harris Lake, also referred to as Shearon Harris Lake, is located on the Shearon Harris Reservoir. The lake and park offer many fun activities for you and your family. Cyclists will enjoy Hog Run Mountain Bike Trail which consists of loops designed for any skill level, from beginner to advanced. The advanced trail is the longest ride and features log jumps and more elevation changes. Peninsula Hiking Trail will lead hikers along the lakeshore through a variety of forest habitats with a glimpse of deer or waterfowl along the way. The entire trail is nearly 5 miles long but hikers can choose their own distance to hike.
Harris Lake County Park also offers several picnic areas as well as a playground, fishing pier, fishing pond, a disc golf course, canoe/kayak launch site and much more. The park is host to special events throughout the year and offers educational programs to schools, organized groups and the general public. It’s a great place to spend a day when you want to enjoy nature and the beautiful North Carolina scenery.
